FAQs for the Design a VGVN Badge Contest
Who is eligible to enter the contest?
The promotion is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are members of the Video Game Voters Network and are the age of majority or older in their jurisdiction of residence as of August 4, 2010. Other eligibility requirements apply. See the complete Official Rules for details.
What is the deadline for entry?
You must submit your badge design and completed entry form by 11:59:59 PM ET on August 22, 2010. Entry materials submitted before the promotion start date of August 4, 2010 are not eligible for consideration, so do not submit your entry before then.
How do I enter?
Create a badge design incorporating the name “Video Game Voters Network,” the acronym “VGVN” (Video Game Voters Network), and/or the website address “www.vgvn.org”; then visit www.videogamevoters.org/BadgeContest and follow the posted instructions to submit an entry form and upload your badge design.
What can I win?
One winner will be awarded the Grand Prize, which consists of a $750 Best Buy Gift Certificate. One winner will be awarded the Second Prize, which consists of a $250 Best Buy Gift Certificate.
How many badge designs can I submit?
There is no limit on the number of badge designs that you may submit.
In what format can my badge design be?
Eligible entries must be in JPEG, GIF, or PNG formats and no more than 3 megabytes in size. The design should be square, preferably 200x200 pixels but scalable to a smaller size.
Are there any restrictions on the content of the badge design?
Your badge design must be suitable for a general audience. It should not contain profanity, sexually explicit material, violence, or any other type of inappropriate material. Also, it may not contain any content that violates or infringes upon the rights of any third party, including third party logos, trademarks, patents, or copyrights, violate someone’s rights of privacy or publicity, or include content that otherwise violates any federal, state or local laws, regulations, or ordinances.
What will happen to my badge design once I submit it?
All badge designs will become property of the Entertainment Software Association, and finalists’ banner designs will be uploaded to the Video Game Voters Network website (www.videogamevoters.org) for viewing and even sharing elsewhere. You will be required to sign a release form before being named a finalist or winner.
How will my badge design be judged?
There is a two-part process. In the first round, a panel of judges will select finalists based on the following criteria: relevance to message (50 points); visual appeal (25 points) and creativity (25 points). In the second round, the finalists’ badge designs will be displayed on www.videogamevoters.org, where members of the public will be able to vote for their favorite badge design. The finalist whose banner design receives the highest number of votes will be selected as the Grand Prize winner, and the finalist whose banner design receives the second highest number of votes will be selected as the Second Prize winner.
How will I know if I won?
Finalists and potential winners will be notified by telephone, email, or mail within seven days of being selected.
How can I find out who won?
For a list of winners, available for 60 days after verification of all winners, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: The Entertainment Software Association, 575 7th Street NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20004.
